The Fundamental of Architectural Photography

This Fundamentals Workshop will teach the craft of photography .

This workshop will cover the auto camera operations: Aperture Priority, Shutter Speed Priority, Auto White Balance, File Format, File Size etc and how to take the best possible snapshots.

You will learn why it is so important to use the camera’s manual functions: f stops, shutter speeds, ISO and how they will greatly increase the quality and creativity of your photographs.

We will cover how to determine the correct exposure, critical in digital photography, by using a simple inexpensive and easy to use tool which will be included with this workshop.

We will discuss the basics of the very affordable and powerful Photoshop Elements in post production correction and image storage / management and why it is critical to immediately save and store your images as a file format other than jpg.

This workshop is for architects, contractors and engineers who need images that tell their story about the design process and how the use of space and detail became the finished project.

This is a hands on workshop where we make several photographs of an attendee’s project. This will provide practical experience on how to use the manual functions of the camera, how to determine the correct exposure and how to use the elements of photography, depth of field, selective focus etc. to produce creative high quality images for your web site, print portfolio or for publication.

We will show how to drive the viewers eye with controlled and affordable supplemental lighting and how light source and the color temperature of the light dramatically affects the character and quality of the image.

We will also discuss how to use the video functions of the advanced amateur cameras and how that can be successfully used, in conjunction with the very affordable Adobe Premiere, to document and share the construction process.

Anyone wishing to take this workshop must have taken the Fundamentals of Digital Photography Workshop; we will be expanding on the skills covered in that class.

Full Day Class including a Location Photo Session

The Fundamentals of Architectural Photography Workshop will cover the craft of photography as it applies to the special needs of Design and Construction Professionals: Architects, Interior Designers, Engineers, Contractors, Manufactures, Dealers and Installers.

The Morning Session will cover the cameras automatic settings* and how to take the best possible pictures of your projects.
            * Aperture Priority
            * Shutter Speed Priority
            * Auto White Balance
           
We will then go on to cover how to use the camera’s manual functions** which will prepare you to go from taking pictures to making high quality effective photographs.
            ** f stops
            ** Shutter speeds
            ** ISO
            ** Manual Focus
            ** Metering
            ** How choosing the correct, file size and file formats this will greatly increase the quality of the final image and why it is critical to immediately save and store your images as a file format other than jpg. 

           We will also cover how the source of light, time of day, direction of light, mixed light source and lamp type will dramatically affect the character and the quality of the image.  We will discuss how to set the white balance for your camera so that you the photograph will have accurate color.  You will be shown how to determine the correct exposure which is critical in digital photography. Both determining the correct white balance and exposure are found with an easy to use tool which will be included with this workshop. We will briefly discuss the inexpensive and powerful Adobe Photoshop Elements' ability to store images so that they are safe and easily accessable and Elements' tools for post production correction.

The Afternoon Session will cover how to use the manual functions of the camera (listed above) and the elements of photography, depth of field, selective focus etc. to produce high quality, creatively composed images for your web site, print portfolio or publication. 

            You will be shown how to direct the viewers eye with controlled and affordable supplemental lighting.  We will also discuss balancing interior and exterior lighting and how to create quality twilight photographs.

            Finally: We will also discuss how the needs of the different Design and Construction Professionals are unique and how something as simple as camera angle can make for a more effective photograph.
